Our Story

Founded in 1991, Sentry Event Services was built on a simple philosophy: that high-caliber security and exceptional customer service should go hand-in-hand. While the industry at the time relied on a rigid, hands-off approach, Sentry proved that a hospitality-first mindset could revolutionize crowd management and safety.

Over the last three decades, that vision has taken us from our roots in Florida to a premier regional security and operations partner spanning the Eastern United States, from the Atlantic coast through the Midwest and Gulf regions. While we have scaled alongside some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment—managing operations for NFL games, NASCAR races, PGA tournaments, and major music festivals—we are just as deeply rooted in safeguarding everyday commercial environments like warehouses and hospitals, as well as managing local arenas and venues.

The Evolution of Our Strength

As we grew, so did our geographic reach. While expanding our presence in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions, BCM Security/Solutions Services, a well-established local provider that had previously integrated 1st Alert Security and Protection Services, merged into Sentry Event Services.

Operating together under the Sentry name, this merger united decades of combined industry experience, localized expertise, and shared resources under one trusted brand.

Meet Our Team

Curtis Mattingly

CEO

Curtis Mattingly, a U.S. Air Force veteran and Indiana University graduate, began his career at Physician Sales and Service, where he rose from customer service to General Manager of a multistate unit, earning national recognition with the Blue Ribbon Award. In 2006, he founded BCM Security Services, transforming a local event security firm into a national provider serving clients from Fortune 10 companies to local promoters. In 2022, BCM merged with Sentry Event Services to deliver enhanced, client-focused security solutions by combining the strengths of both organizations.

Jimmy Harris

Senior Director of Operations

Jimmy Harris Jr. began his career with BCM Solutions, Inc. in 2014 as a member of the event staff. Through unwavering dedication and a hands-on commitment to learning every facet of the business, he rose through the ranks to his current role as Senior Director of Operations of Sentry Event Services, Inc., where he now oversees the entire Operations Department. In this executive capacity, Jimmy provides strategic leadership across all regions and specialized units, including Major Events, North Florida, South Georgia, Central Florida, and Northeast Pennsylvania. He is responsible for the fluency of operations across the company. His extensive experience spans a diverse portfolio, ranging from PGA Golf Tournaments and NASCAR races to Music Festivals, local events, and commercial properties.

Evan Helgesen

Senior Director of Human Capital and Business Development

Evan Helgesen’s career in event management began while earning his Sport Management degree at Baldwin Wallace University. With over a decade of experience at Sentry Event Services, he has successfully led high-stakes operations for premier clients such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, Florida State University, and more! Now serving as the Senior Director of Human Capital, Evan oversees all people-focused departments, including Recruiting, Human Resources, Finance, and Training. Throughout his tenure, Evan has earned a reputation for being a staunch advocate for the workforce; he is widely recognized for his "employee-first" approach and his ability to foster a supportive professional environment. By bridging his extensive operational background with a passion for staff development, Evan ensures that Sentry’s human capital remains its greatest asset and a key driver of the company’s success.
